From Heavy Fuel Bills to Smarter Work – Erik Sandberg’s Story with SAMI Machinery

In Rosvik, a small village in the north of Sweden, the winters are long, the roads demanding, and the work never stops. For Erik Sandberg, who runs a small contracting business, keeping his machines efficient and reliable is crucial. His Volvo L60G wheel loader and Valtra N92 tractor form the backbone of his operations, helping him clear snow in the winter, work on roads and construction in the summer, and manage forestry tasks year-round.

“I do most of the snow clearing in winter with my wheel loader,” Erik explains. “In summer, I switch to road and construction work. The tractor I use mainly in the forest with a trailer and crane, but also for chain mulching roads and overgrown areas.”

Finding the right tools for the job

Over the years, Erik has invested in different types of equipment to keep up with the variety of tasks his company takes on. Among his most important tools are his SAMI bucket sweeper and SAMI chain mulcher.

“With the bucket sweeper, I can clear asphalt areas in the spring when winter is over,” Erik says. “The chain mulcher I use for maintaining gravel roads in the forest and cutting back vegetation that grows too far onto the road.”

But before discovering SAMI, Erik faced several challenges that were holding back both his productivity and his bottom line.

Struggling with old equipment

“I had two chain mulchers from another popular Swedish brand,” Erik recalls. “But the fuel consumption was too high, and the cutting results weren’t good enough. It just wasn’t efficient.”

High running costs and poor results meant wasted time and money — something Erik could not afford in such a competitive environment.

A robust and smarter solution

The breakthrough came when Erik came across the SAMI chain mulcher. “When I saw the SAMI mulcher, I was impressed right away,” he says. “It was very robust, but at the same time had a slim design. And the way it follows the ground is much smoother than other brands I’ve tried.”

This design difference soon translated into clear advantages in the field. Thanks to the cardan transmission, Erik noticed a major drop in fuel consumption.

“I save a lot of fuel compared to before,” he confirms. “And the results are much better too — the mulcher cuts grass and small trees closer to the ground, which makes the work more effective.”

Real results, less maintenance

For Erik, the benefits are more than just technical specifications. They impact his everyday work. “With SAMI, I spend less time worrying about fuel costs and machine wear. The products are smartly designed and don’t require much maintenance, which means I can focus on the job instead of repairs,” he explains.

Would he recommend SAMI?

When asked if he would recommend SAMI to others, Erik doesn’t hesitate:
“Yes, I would! They are smartly designed, reliable, and require very little maintenance. For me, they’ve made a real difference in efficiency and costs.”

Strong results in the north

In the demanding conditions of northern Sweden, where winters are tough and summers short, efficiency matters more than ever. For Erik Sandberg, choosing SAMI equipment has helped him cut costs, improve performance, and get more done with the machines he already has.

“It’s about having equipment you can trust,” Erik sums up. “And for me, SAMI has proven to be just that.”
